Menu Creation and Development:
Design innovative and appealing menus that cater to a diverse range of customer preferences and dietary needs.
Incorporate fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients into menu offerings.
Collaborate with management and stakeholders to introduce new dishes and make menu adjustments based on feedback and market trends.
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, pastas, and desserts, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
Manage portion control and minimize food wastage to maintain cost efficiency.
Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times during food handling and preparation.
Supervise kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and prep cooks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
Organize and prioritize tasks in the kitchen to meet customer demand and maintain quality during peak hours.
Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
Taste and visually inspect dishes before they are served to ensure they meet the cafe's standards of taste, presentation, and quality.
Address any issues or inconsistencies promptly to maintain customer satisfaction.
Training and Development:
Train new kitchen staff members on cooking techniques, safety protocols, and cafe procedures.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages skill development and teamwork.
Inventory and Ordering:
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and place orders as needed to prevent shortages.
Work closely with suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality ingredients and products.
Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless communication between the kitchen and the service staff.
Provide guidance on plate presentation and garnishing techniques to enhance the visual appeal of dishes.
Proven culinary experience as a Chef, preferably in a cafe or similar casual dining environment.
In-depth knowledge of various cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and culinary trends.
Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Creativity and an eye for detail in food presentation.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
