The Assistant Manager will assist in planning, implementing and monitoring urban forestry projects aimed at enhancing green spaces, improving biodiversity and fostering environmental sustainability in urban areas. The role involves coordinating with stakeholders, managing project timelines and ensuring alignment with ecological and community goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Implementation:
• Assist in designing urban forestry initiatives, including site assessments, species selection and
planting plans.
• Collaborate with senior managers to develop project timelines, budgets and resource allocations.
• Making proposals and taking approvals from stakeholders before execution of any plans.
2. Stakeholder Coordination:
• Work with local and government authorities, NGOs, community groups and contractors to ensure
smooth project execution.
• Conduct community engagement sessions to raise awareness and encourage participation in urban
greening efforts.
3. Monitoring and Reporting:
• Oversee planting, maintenance and growth monitoring of urban forest areas and nurseries.
• Prepare progress reports and presentations to highlight project milestones and outcomes.
4. Team Leadership:
• Supervise field staff, interns and volunteers, providing training and guidance as needed.
• Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.
5. Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and urban planning guidelines
• Secure necessary permits and documentation for project activities and document assurance from
authority that projects are incorporated in any government projects.
6. Research and Innovation:
• Stay updated on best practices in urban forestry and recommend innovative approaches for
sustainable green space development.
• Contribute to research initiatives and data collection to support urban forest management
strategies.
Flexibility and Field Work Requirements:
• Adaptability and Versatility:
The Assistant Manager shall exhibit a high degree of flexibility and
willingness to undertake a variety of tasks and responsibilities as required by the organization.
This includes, but is not limited to, basic level operational work, administrative tasks, and
strategic initiatives that may arise due to the dynamic nature of the organization's activities and
goals.
• Field Work and Travel:
The Assistant Manager shall be prepared to travel outside the valley and
engage in fieldwork as necessary to fulfill the organization's objectives. The organization will
provide reasonable notice for such assignments and ensure appropriate support for travel-related
activities.
Note:
3-5 years of experience in urban forestry, landscape management, or environmental projects.
Knowledge of tree species, biodiversity, and urban ecology principles.
Proficiency in GIS software and other mapping tools is a plus.
